Dr. Mitch Mah’moud received his undergraduate medical degree from the Ibadan Medical School in Nigeria and the University College Hospital. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He underwent his Fellowship Training in Digestive Diseases at the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, where he also served as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the Yale Medical School Dr. Mah’moud also has a doctorate degree in Theology. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Mah’moud also serves on numerous leadership positions including the Ethics Committee of the AGA, Education and Professional Issues Committees of the ACG, and the Education and the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Committees of the AASLD. He was a founding Executive Board member of the AGA Center for GI Innovation and Technology. He has been a Clinical Professor and faculty member in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Duke University School of Medicine and the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Dr. Mah’moud maintains an active practice with a focus on liver diseases (including pretransplant and post-transplant care), general gastroenterology (GERD, IBD, constipation, IBS, colon cancer), and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

He lives in North Raleigh with his wife and three daughters. In his free time, he is active in church, short-term missions, and the Prison ministries. Some of his personal interests include traveling with his family, soccer, reading, movies, jogging, and engaging in fun activities with his family.
